I don’t know why people online keep hyping up every single device like it’s some magical piece of technology but honestly if you leave your house at 8 AM you only care about three things and that is a screen that doesn’t blind you a battery that doesn’t die by lunchtime and a camera that won’t turn your face into a white plastic ghost. That’s literally it. This Realme GT 5 Pro came out of nowhere and everyone was laughing because nobody spends heavy premium money on a brand that is famous for making cheap twenty-thousand rupees phones for aunties but man after using this heavy brick for months as my main setup I have some thoughts that will probably make some Samsung and iPhone fans mad because we have been paying double price for literally no reason.
First thing is the sheer size of this thing because it is not for small hands at all. It weighs around 218 grams which basically means if you are scrolling your feed in bed and it slips from your fingers it is going to break your nose or tooth for sure. I have almost dropped it twice on my face while watching reels at midnight and trust me it hurts bad. But the metal frame feels extremely solid like a tank and that giant circle camera humph on the back looks weird in pictures like a small wall clock or a tyre of a toy car but in real life if you get the orange or white leather finish it feels so soft and premium. I am so done with glass back phones because they get covered in disgusting greasy finger marks within five seconds and they slip off a flat wooden table or a car dashboard like a piece of wet soap but this leather grip is just amazing you don’t even need to put a cheap plastic cover on it.

Then the screen has these curved edges which to be completely honest I absolutely hate and I will always hate them. Curved glass is a total scam because you can never find a tempered screen protector that doesn’t peel off from the sides after a week and when you go to the local mobile market those shopkeepers charge you extra money for UV glue protectors which eventually mess up your speaker grill. And when you hold the phone tightly to watch a movie your palm skin keeps touching the edges and the phone gets confused and pauses your video randomly or starts typing random letters on the keyboard. But if you ignore that annoyance the panel itself is crazy good. It runs at 1.5K which is sharper than normal HD but thankfully doesn’t drink battery juice like a full 2K screen and that 144Hz refresh rate makes everything move like actual oil or butter when you are just scrolling through long group chats on WhatsApp. They kept shouting about 4500 nits brightness which is mostly marketing rubbish for HDR clips on YouTube but in real life under the blazing hot 2 PM sun when you are standing on the road trying to find a location on maps you don’t have to cup your hand over the screen just to read a text message because it gets bright enough to fight the sun easily.
Inside it has that Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip with 16GB RAM which is just stupidly fast. You can open twenty heavy apps at once and change your mind and play a heavy game like PUBG or Genshin Impact on maximum graphics and it just doesn’t care at all. No lag no stutter not even a millisecond of freeze even if your phone storage is almost full of junk videos. Usually these powerful phones start heating up like a frying pan after twenty minutes of gaming but they put a huge cooling system inside that spreads the heat out nicely so your hands don’t sweat. The only annoying thing is the software because it comes with so much useless pre-installed Chinese junk apps and bloatware that keep throwing random notifications at you like some cheap local browser telling you to click on weird links so you have to spend your first twenty minutes manually deleting everything and disabling system recommendations to get some actual peace. Also things like Android Auto or Google location tracking timeline might act weird if you got the imported variant because the Chinese system framework blocks background tracking from foreign servers so keep that in mind if you drive a lot using your car screen.
But the real reason why I am keeping this phone and not throwing it away is the battery life because it is absolutely insane and saves you from carrying those heavy power banks everywhere. Most flagships stop at 5000mAh but they squeezed a 5400mAh battery here and it just refuses to die. Normal people can easily get two full days out of it without looking for a wall plug and even if you are a heavy user who shoots 4K videos and plays games all day on mobile data you will still have plenty of juice left like 30% or 40% when you hit the bed at midnight. And when it finally dies the 100W heavy charger inside the box is a lifesaver. Apple and Samsung don’t even give you a charger anymore because they want to make extra money selling bricks under the name of environment protection which is just corporate greed but here you plug it in go take a quick shower or make a cup of tea and by the time you are dressed the phone is already at 90% or full. It takes like 26 minutes from dead zero to hundred percent and they even put 50W wireless charging which is faster than what most premium phones can do with an actual wire.

The camera setup is where they finally stopped cutting corners and actually spent some real money. Usually Realme gives one good lens and two useless two-megapixel macro sensors just for show to write triple camera on the box but here the main 50-megapixel camera takes very clean photos without making the colors look radioactive or overly bright like some cheap vivo or oppo phones. But the periscope zoom lens is the real showstopper. At 3x or 6x zoom the photos stay incredibly sharp and it takes some of the best portrait shots I have ever seen because the background blur looks totally natural like a proper standalone digital camera instead of some cheap software filter that cuts your ears or hair. Even at night when you are standing in a dimly lit street it pulls in light naturally without making the sky look fake grey. The only total garbage part is the 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens which works fine in broad daylight for wide landscape group photos but looks incredibly blurry and soft as soon as the sun goes down and the front camera loves to whiten your skin automatically like you applied some cheap face cream which looks kind of fake so you have to turn off the beauty filters manually.
Also let’s talk about the small daily things like the vibration motor because when you are typing a long message it gives you a very tight clicky feel instead of a loose cheap buzz that irritates your fingers. The speakers get loud enough that you can easily hear your ringtone even if the phone is inside a thick backpack in a noisy market and the sound doesn’t crack at full volume. There is also this funny palm scanner feature where you can wave your hand in front of the screen to unlock it or scroll videos without touching it which looks completely gimmicky but it actually works fine when your hands are dirty while eating food. It has basic splash resistance too so if you get caught in a sudden rain shower on your bike you don’t need to panic and hide your phone in a plastic bag immediately. Honestly for the price they are asking this thing completely destroys those thousand-dollar mainstream phones because it gives you everything you actually need in daily life for half the money and you don’t feel like you compromised on anything major.
